I made the fitting carefully according to the instructions, but I still couldn't shape either protection, even though I've had great success with the same product in the past! I kept the guard in boiled water for 15 seconds, waited 2 seconds so the guard wouldn't burn (it did burn my mouth, unlike before) I pressed the guard with my fingers to the upper teeth, bit my teeth together, pressed my tongue to the roof of my mouth, sucked and tried to shape the guard over the teeth/gums with my fingers. The shield simply wouldn't take shape no matter how hard I tried. After fitting, the guard felt like a thick lump in the mouth and did not stay on the teeth at all. Both completely unusable. Has the "recipe" here changed, etc.? A year ago this worked just fine, now it doesn't work at all even though I've tried several times. So it shouldn't be due to lack of experience, because I'm not a first timer. I've even tried letting the protection soften for about a minute in hot (boiled) water and the styling just doesn't go well. So this attempt as the last straw, I started the job exactly according to the instructions and repeated several times before trying to keep the protection in water for a minute. It's very sad, especially when the product was working properly before, and I was hoping that the quality would still be the same. I hope the quality of the product will be restored.

Answer from staff
Hello and thanks for the good feedback. The subject has been discussed several times with the marketing authorization holder, in this case the manufacturer. According to the information received from them, during the corona period and now after the corona period, the US suppliers of thermoformable polymer reduced the sales of EVA polymer to Europe, because thermoformable polymers are used e.g. in various hospital supplies, of which there have been widespread availability problems worldwide. As far as hospital supplies are concerned, the situation is now reportedly going in a better direction. The sales license holder has therefore had to change the prescription of the bite guards because of this, and they are waiting to receive new EVA batches from the United States to Europe. Current suppliers of EVA material from Europe produce EVA polymer similar to the previous batches, but there are always differences in the polymers between manufacturers, even though the size of the polymers and thus the thermal behavior should be approximately the same. A year ago, the heating time in bite guards was about 30 seconds, and in the current version, about 10-15 seconds. This time of keeping in hot water is not necessarily the most ideal parameter for that, because the bite guard is at best adjustable, because the internal temperature of the polymer must be right, so that the polymer's so-called glass transition has been reached, when the viscosity of the polymer changes from "hard" to formable and soft. Time is usually an easier concept for people, and thus it is in the instructions for use in the instructions for what the manufacturer strives for in terms of the functionality of their products. If there are no traces of teeth left on the bite guard after fitting, it is known that the bite guard needs to be heated longer. In general, if the bite guard is not shaped at all, the parts of the bite guard that hit the gums may feel like burning. Shaping generally reduces the risk of hitting the gums, as the plate is shaped according to the surface and arch of the tooth. In other words, the bite guard is best suited when the bite guard is soft, partly even soft and it almost sticks to a spoon or fork. The softness can be tested in water with a fork or the tip of a spoon, and the softness of the plate depends on the temperature of the water. The softness is also noticeable in the fingers, which means that the disc feels soft and adaptable and not hard. Some people have even boiled the water used to heat the bite guard with a coffee maker and wondered that the plate doesn't soften, which means we have fitters everywhere. Made in the USA, the Maximum Protection Bite guard is probably the safest option if the design of the thermoformable bite guard is difficult: https://www.narskuttelu.fi/product/66/maximum-protection-purentakisko-1-kpl

They were really cheap and of poor quality. It felt more like a children's toy than something intended for real use. The spiky one was useful for cleaning tight spaces between the teeth, and you can see better with a mirror, and that was the end of the benefit, because the third one didn't do anything.

Great for coping with a chipped molar for a month before I had an appointment at the dentist. More than half of the old places were chipped from the tooth and the sharp edges were awkward. With the filler I could fill the hole and cover the sharp edges.
